2014 WCCD December Banquet
This year the Washington County Conservation District held it's December meeting at the Double Tree located along Racetrack Road in Washington, PA. Those that attended the banquet included our Board of Directors, Associate Directors, staff, some of our Partner Organizations, and a few of our watershed volunteers. Once the meeting concluded, we had the opportunity to recognize and honor some of our valued community members. Jack and Carol Kirschner owners of CJ Livestock received the 2014 Conservation Farmer Award. Volunteers such as Joan Jessen, Donna Riggle, Jean Bear, Judy Campsey, and Carrilee Hemington received awards for their efforts and contributions that help support our local Watershed Associations.
Legislation in the state of Pennsylvania has been passed that requires all animal operations that produce or use manure to have a written plan outlining how the manure is used, or disposed of. The Washington County Conservation District is available to help owners understand the regulations, and to write a plan for their operation.
Contact Tom Ulrich or Hannah Hoblitzell at the office. They can be reached by phone at: 724-206-9446, or by email at: firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com. The District is available to work with any operator, no matter what size. If you would like help creating a plan, or have questions about the regulations feel free to contact us here at the office any time. There is no cost for our assistance, and we are always happy to help.
Sights Around Our County
The Washington County Conservation District holds a district meeting on the second Tuesday of every month. All citizens from Washington County are welcome to attend these meetings. During the year from September - March district meetings begin at 10am, and from April - August meetings will be held at 9am at the Washington County Conservation District Office. September and December are the two months that meetings will not be held at the Conservation District, and the locations are to be determined.
