Here, you’ll find a variety of tools and materials focused on conservation, natural resources, agriculture, and sustainability — all tailored to Washington County and Pennsylvania standards. From classroom-ready lessons and hands-on activities to informative guides and outreach materials, we’re here to help you explore the world around you and inspire the next generation of environmental stewards.
The WCCD has new educational resource bins that are available to local teachers and organizations on loan for enhancing your classroom or outreach events.

Display Opportunities
The District prepares and maintains informational displays for environmental outreach at various events throughout the year. These events include Washington County Agricultural Days, the Washington County Fair, the Washington County Sportsmen’s Show, high school Career Days, and the Ohio River Watershed Celebration.

Programs and Presentations
Staff members continually work to promote environmental education by instructing at various programs for schools, farm organizations, municipalities, civic groups, and scout organizations. Several thousand individuals from both inside and outside the county were reached through displays, programs, and presentations. A resource library of environmental information is also maintained in the district office for the public.
Contact Jeffrey Kim at 724-705-7098, Ext. 205, or jkim@pawccd.org for outreach and educational opportunities.

Washington County Envirothon
The District holds an annual environmental competition for county high school students. The Watershed Specialist coordinates the event, and the entire District staff helps ensure that things run smoothly on the days of the Study Session and Competition. The Dormont-Mt. Lebanon Sportsmen’s Club graciously allows us the use of their facilities for the event, and volunteers from state and local agencies instruct the testing stations.
