Display Opportunities

The District prepares and maintains informational displays for environmental outreach at various events throughout the year.  These events include Washington County Agricultural Days, the Washington County Fair, the Washington County Sportsmen’s Show, high school Career Days, and the Ohio River Watershed Celebration.

Programs and Presentations

Staff members continually work to promote environmental education by instructing at various programs for schools, farm organizations, municipalities, civic groups, and scout organizations. Several thousand individuals from both inside and outside the county were reached through displays, programs, and presentations.  A resource library of environmental information is also maintained in the district office for the public.

Washington County Envirothon

The District holds an annual environmental competition for county high school students.  The Watershed Specialist coordinates the event, and the entire District staff helps ensure that things run smoothly on the days of the Study Session and Competition.  The Dormont-Mt. Lebanon Sportsmen's Club graciously allows us the use of their facilities for the event, and volunteers from state and local agencies instruct the testing stations.

2024 Envirothon Winners

Every year the Washington County Conservation District holds the Pennsylvania Envirothon Competition for high school students in Washington County. At the Envirothon, teams of five high school students compete in field testing using their knowledge in five topic areas – Soils and Land Use, Aquatic Ecology, Forestry, Wildlife, Environmental Issues, and a current topic that focuses on a current environmental issue.
WCCD would like to congratulate this years winners!
